EP66: Karma and Varna-Dharma I

Commentaries by Vee Jay Attri during the Book Study – Secrets of Karma

Welcome to the session on session on Great Invocation, how are you all keeping; super happy, super healthy, super strong, yes! How was your day? How did you maintain your level of energy today? Hope you were able to sustain it at a reasonable level, with zero complaints, zero reaction, yes!

Even if you had accomplished 70% progress, that is fantastic. I happened to receive a few WhatsApp messages, having many many concerns. One of that, I reflected, is a message where the person was actually feeling a sense of low self esteem because the person’s family members themselves have no value for the person.

Yesterday, we had actually spoken about that, making you understand that nobody is a prophet in their own country. That is a saying and even the most invaluable gem needs to fall in the right hand to put a value for that. So, I heard that in Gujarat, in India, where there are so many diamond merchants.

Now what I heard, I have not seen it myself, is that when you go to the place where they put a value for the diamonds, all the diamonds are scattered on the floor. They are basically still in their raw form. They are just stones. So, it’s only when the valuer comes and puts a value to the stone that the diamond gets its value. Otherwise, it is simply scattered on the floor.

That exactly is the point. So, my answer to the person who was actually mentioning that a person is not regarded, despite all the contribution and selfless devotion to the family, this normally happens. Here, we have to remember what could be the past lessons. Always, there is a lesson and we have to get in tune with the lesson.

So, immediate lesson could be learning to serve with selfless love, with zero expectations. Said easily but you have to do it. Sometimes, it is very hurtful and painful that you sacrifice your life for the wellbeing of the family and then, not one person reciprocates the love and not one person recognizes your contribution.

If that happens, you have to remember that it is not basically to belittle your effort, it is not to belittle the value of you as a gem. It is about certain intense lessons that are being presented and the family is just an excuse. So, all the time remember, that in the eyes of God, you are a precious gem.

And again, as I told you yesterday, if you belong to this elite group of spiritual practitioners, contributing everyday for several years in the past or even a few weeks now, it means we are really a chosen one. So, that level of value, you need to assign for yourself. It’s always between you and God.

You don’t have to bring anybody in between. If ever you have to bring somebody in between, it is the Masters. So, the masters know, the hierarchy knows who you are, what you are and what is your contribution. Nothing more is required for you. And also, never ever expect any form of reward.

Let people do not even thank you for what you have done. The moment there is recognition for your services, part of your good karma is already being used in getting that recognition. We don’t even want that. Apne astitva ko mitana hai! Meaning, you have tk basically learn to, English is English! Certain words in Hindi is so beautiful, putting it is difficult.

It is like for example, a seed. The seed can become a tree only when it loses its identity. That’s exactly how you can contribute meaningfully to the world, especially during these challenging times. So, the “I” need to be completely disintegrated.

Even if you are blessed with so much of qualities and psychic abilities including healing, all the time remind yourself you are being used as an instrument. The moment pride comes, that is the beginning of destruction. So, this is the most important thing.

And therefore, regardless of whether you are being recognized or not, this is ok. Just be committed to your practices. Also, practices need to be what we call the ritual magic, every day at the same time, in the same place. This is so important.

As far as possible, fix a place because over a period of time, that place starts vibrating with the energy and as you sit in that place, it will be very easy for you to be completely cut off from your surroundings. Like when I’m talking now, check to what level you are in tune with the message.

Do not look at the messenger. The messenger is only a postman. Look at the message and many at times, as I keep on reminding you, remember the principle of synchronicity. If you are in tune, you will receive the right message that can just like that transform everything about your life. Illumination happens in a fraction of a second. It is not a lengthy process but to come to that moment, you need to be in tune.

You have to be so watchful. You have to cultivate awareness. Fraction of a second when you are fully in tune with the message, that will actually help you to rapidly transform many conditions that you have been struggling for ages.

That is the power of being in tune. So, same time, same place and same activity! When you repeatedly do that, that place gets impregnated with so much of power and energy. I am reminded of a very beautiful episode in the Ramayana. Don’t go into the religion. We are not religious people. We are spiritual people. We are beyond religion.

However, scriptures from time to time hold extraordinary message. Our focus is on the essence of the teachings. Is it clear? So, do not look at the finger. Look at where the finger is pointing. The finger is the religion but that is not important. You have to look at where the religion is pointing, that is the essence of the teachings of the great ones.

So, this particular episode in the Ramayana, after Lord Rama’s wife was abducted, both Rama and his brother Lakshmana were running helter skelter in the forest, looking for Sita, that is the name of the wife of Lord Rama.

With respect, we call her Sita Devi, meaning a being of light or a deity. Sometimes, people also say, Sita Mata, meaning mother Sita, that is the reverence that people have.

So, they were looking for Sita and Lakshmana was running much ahead of Rama and then suddenly entered a place. As he entered the place, he started having a weird thought. The thought was, he asked himself, “What am I doing here? I don’t have to be in exile because it is between Rama and his step mother. What am I doing here? Why should I be punished for a punishment that is not meant for me in the first place? I should be spending time back in my kingdom with my wife.”

Then, after he came out of that place, again, he was back to his normal sense. Again, he entered the place and again he had the same thought, “What am I doing here? Instead of being in my kingdom, being with my wife, I am basically spending my time. It’s very unfair that I am doing this activity, injustice to my family.”

Then, as he came out, again, he came back to his senses. He asked Lord Rama, “What is the matter? As I am entering this particular place, my mind is corrupted with this kind of ideas. I do not know what is happening!”

Lord Ram told his brother Lakshmana, “My dear, it’s because there were two demons, Rakshasas, who were brothers and they were intensely fighting in this place and died. And because of that energy of jealousy, hatred and greed and selfishness, that energy that they left, you are contaminated with that as you enter the place.”

This is the power of positive energy when it is repeatedly done in the same place over and over again. That is why, in the world you have got many energy spots, some of the saints who had meditated for eons of times. Certain spots on the planet, they are all basically impregnated with so much of energy.

The moment you cross a place, you know that it is very, very different. So, that’s exactly how I was told, many of the places for temples, churches, or mosques, were chosen in the ancient days.

It actually talks about certain energy matrix. So, indeed, there is a quotient of energy that actually influences either positively or negatively. And that is the reason why, within your home, you have to ensure that you maintain, you sustain a high level of emotion.

If ever there is any discordant energies radiating, either through anger, hatred or whatever forms of emotions, if nothing, light an incense stick of sandalwood and allow the smoke to spread to that place and mentally do the decree:

May all the negative energies that are surrounding this place or within this space be completely disintegrated.

Then you can do an invocation, “I humbly invoke for the Devas, the light beings, to support me in this process of purification.” So, these are all simple things that you need to remember.

Alright! We shall proceed with our study and then, go for the Invocation. After that let us see, we shall be taking up the study of the Disciples of the New Age or we can take up study of the book At the Feet of the Master or some other book. So, let us see how it goes!

Karma and Varna-Dharma

‘‘The law of Varna Dharma is not a human invention but an immutable law of nature.’’
Mahatma Gandhi

So, I am going to talk about what is Varna and what is Varna Dharma. As we read the passage, we will understand.

During the Vedic age, the period during which the oldest Indian scriptures ‘Vedas’ were composed, the society had a four-tiered classification or ‘Varna’.

So, there are four classifications that are part of the Eastern scriptures –Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, Shudras. Brahmins the scholar priests, Kshatriyas the warriors, Vaishyas the business people, Shudras the labour class.

This was to delegate clear responsibilities to people with specific traits and skills for the proper functioning of the society by providing education and economic development as well as maintaining law and order.

The purpose of the four tiered classification was not to basically make one person superior to another but given that within a society, you need people of different abilities, we had this kind of four tiered system. We call it Varna.

The ‘Brahmins’ were scholar priests whose job was to educate people and show them the path to attain spiritual powers through discipline and austerities.

So, regardless of what is your caste, according to your understanding or religious belief, you are a Brahmin because of two important qualifications of the Brahmin:

  1. You have to educate the people
  2. Discipline and austerities, both you are doing.

The Brahmins were scholar priests whose job was to educate people and show them the path to attain spiritual powers through discipline and austerities. So, we all are Brahmins in some way. It is not related to our births. It is related to our actions.

The ‘Kshatriyas’ were governors, kings or warriors whose duty was to guard people’s safety and well being as well as maintaining law and order.

So, if you are a politician or if you are in the police force or army, you fall into the category of Kshatriyas. So, it has got no connection with your birth. Because of ignorance, there is so much of problems and confusion in the world. They have not understood what was the original purpose of these kind of classifications.

In countries like Mauritius, I heard that if you are not a Vaishya, you cannot be elected as a Prime Minister of the country. Can you imagine? So, the Vaish or Vaishyas is basically a business community.

It has got nothing to do with your ability to rule the country. The ability to rule the country are the Kshatriyas. Think about it very peacefully. If this understanding sinks very deeply in the minds of people, how much good we can contribute to the country?

All out of ignorance and the ignorance of the people has been exploited by few powerful people. Of course, again, it is a part of the divine plan. We would not like to say much about it. Even before we had started the beautiful topic, the time is over for the Great Invocation. No worry!

We are going to meet again tomorrow to discuss this very important topic. These are all the important intricate aspects of your life that you need to understand well, so that you are in a position to do some greater service to the mankind.
