EP37: Karmic Obligations towards the Country II

Commentaries by Vee Jay Attri during the Book Study – Secrets of Karma

Let us joyfully continue with our study. We were reading about karmic obligations towards our country. We shall now continue.

“Yatha Raja, Tatha Praja”
As is the king, so are the subjects.
-Indian Proverb

Politicians

Politicians have an immense karmic obligation towards the country. Even more is the obligation of the leader to his or her nation.

As per the proverb, ‘As the king, so are the subjects,’ the people of a nation often reflect the quality of the king or the leader.

The saying describes the importance the role of the leader and the extent to which the leader has influence over his people.

Of course, these are all proverbs that have been drawn from the ancient times. How much it is relevant to the current times, we cannot certainly say because mankind as a whole has evolved. The consciousness has shifted to a very great level that it is possible that the subjects are more evolved than the leaders.

All that is actually said here is to a substantial level. If the leader has greater qualities, filled with virtues, it has a greater impact on the people but we have to realize the other side of the story, that together with the light forces, the dark forces are also equally powerful.

The more the light forces do things for progress, for evolution, there would be an opposition, if not more but at least in an equal magnitude for restraining progress, for restraining evolution. It is actually a part of the Divine plan. We have to remember that everything has actually started from one source.

So, when we talk about the Yin and the Yang, we understand that everything is basically a pair of the opposites. So, right from the time when we started the evolutionary process, the creation, we have the Purusha and the Prakriti; Purusha the consciousness, the Prakriti the matter.

It is basically the combination of the purusha and the prakriti that results in the creation, symbolically represented by the Yin and the Yang. Now, if you stretch it to other levels of life, it is equally true when we talk about the light brotherhood and the dark brotherhood. Both are extremely powerful.

And that is the reason why you will find that there is a great resistance for change, great resistance for progress, not only in countries like India, anywhere in the world for that matter but it’s basically a part of the divine plan. That is the reason why spiritual practitioners do not get angry about anything. If you can contribute something meaningful, you contribute.

And more importantly, contribute to transformation of energies. As of now, given that for eons of times, the affinity of mankind is more towards negativity and therefore the negative energies or the forces have a tendency to rule over the positivity.

But gradually as we start increasing our vibratory level, the power of positivity will start ruling the power of negativity and gradually, you will find as we move towards a critical mass of positivity, we shall be able to conquer the world spiritually. These are the grand times for us to get together. These are the grand times for anyone to contribute to the group activity.

After a certain time, even if you are going to give billions of rupees and willing to work the whole day, your services may not be required because you would be much inferior compared to where the civilization would have already headed for. And that is the reason why inferior not in the sense of a negative connotation, inferior in terms of the vibratory level.

So, the mankind as a whole as they start moving towards evolution, their consciousness keeps on getting more and more refined that all the grosser ones will stay behind and those which are absolutely refined will start reigning the world.

These are the times that already things have started. Your contribution is required now, not after 5 years or 10 years ahead. There is a requirement for light when there is darkness. There is a requirement for greater light when there is greater darkness.

Once there is light, the value for the light that you want to shed would not be the same as it is today. So, that is the reason why you have to be motivated to be a part of group activities more and more and also encourage people in your family, your friends, to be a part of the activities.

The saying describes the importance of the role of the leader and the extent to which the leader has influence over his people.

Any negligence in fulfilling your duty as head of a nation calls for severe karmic repercussions and brings much pain and misfortune.

So, this is very obvious. If you look into people in deep misery and pain, though we have lots of compassion but then if you analyze, there is always a cause. Any tendencies for carelessness, irresponsibility, laziness are absolutely punishable crimes from the point of karma.

So, that is the reason why, especially for the spiritual practitioners, the standards are very high. What is acceptable for a common man is not acceptable for a spiritual practitioner. You can no longer say: “What to do? I am a human. It is okay for me to be sad or to be angry, to be frustrated, to be depressed.”

No! Because you as a spiritual practitioner, you have been bestowed with wisdom and wisdom is power and when there is power, you are already wielding enormous influence consciously or unconsciously on the people around you and to a certain extent to the country and the world.

So, when you fall, you are actually making so many people to fall down together with you spiritually or energetically speaking and that bad karma comes to you manifold. It is not basically to scare you but just to make you aware of what is happening at the energy level.

We have definitely an immense responsibility. Any negligence in fulfilling your duty as head of a nation calls for severe karmic repercussions and brings much pain and misfortune. So, here the leader is also a disciple, a disciple who is involved in making the world a better place to live.

Being in politics is a great event in your journey on earth. You can look into some of the great politicians who take the opportunity so wonderfully to enlighten and awaken the people.

So, because they are wielding the political power together with that, when they combine the spiritual power, you can definitely have an enormous influence and contribution for the nation, for the world. So, that is the reason why leaders have to be so cautious.

Being in politics is a great event in your journey on earth. It is a powerful platform to manifest your greatness.

Being in politics, you have to really become a better soul. You have to become a spiritual soul. If there is even a tinge of selfishness or petty desires in your system as a leader, then you lose a very grand opportunity of contributing in a mighty way to the people.

But often, unfortunately or as a part of the divine plan, the leaders do not realize their importance and the role that they are playing. The day when they start realizing their values, their importance, things can really become better.

It is through the empowerment of the inner government that the outer government can become more powerful. Making the inner government, comprising of the hierarchy, comprising of the devas, the light beings is an extremely important activity. That is exactly what we do in group activities.

And also, as many masters have said in the past, if the humanity collectively turns towards vegetarian, to become a vegetarian, that can definitely help in transforming the intense energies of fear and insecurities substantially.

As a matter of fact, we keep reading many spiritual masters telling, one of the most important prerequisite for the world to become a better place is people have to become vegetarian. So, that means we have to practice “ahimsa” or non-violence or compassion and kindness even towards other beings.

When that happens gradually, you will be strengthening the inner government and as the inner government is getting more and stronger, it will automatically have a very amazing pervasive effect on the minds of the people, including the politicians. So, see if you can become a vegetarian. Acha hai! It is good for you.

It is a powerful platform to manifest your greatness.

What is possible to accomplish in many lifetimes of hard work is possible to achieve in just a lifetime of dedicated service to your motherland.

Dedicated service includes selfless service. If your contribution is tinged with desire for popularity, of course unfortunately we are in the era of communication where to a certain extent, you have to let people know what you are doing. That is another thing. But if the very basis of what you are contributing is for taking pictures and then put it in Facebook and Youtube or wherever it is, then the very purpose is absolutely defeated.

Where your contribution can have a hundred thousand units of benefit, because of that mixed motive of selfishness, the contribution that you make becomes diminished many times. Not only you diminish the contribution, you also diminish the reward that you get from the good karma that you have actually generated. I hope you are understanding what I am talking about.

So, all the time selflessness. Absolutely, there are two important things, anasakt and apeksha.
Neither have I got any attachment towards anything nor do I have any expectation from anything. I simply do it for the sake of doing it. So, anasaktvritti and apeksha. Apeksha is expectation, anasakt is somewhat desirelessness or non-attachment.

If you are able to master these two virtues of non-attachment and non-expectation, your contribution can really make a huge difference in the transformation process.
