EP26: Karma & Anger I

Commentaries by Vee Jay Attri during the Book Study – Secrets of Karma

We shall continue with our study from the Secrets of Karma. We were talking about the wasted opportunities. We shall continue with our study on the subtle traps of karma. The next one is Karma and Anger. There is a very beautiful quotation from the Eastern part of India:

“Jo raaz ko nahin jante, wahi naraaz hote hain’’
‘‘The ones who do not know the secret, are the ones who get angry’’
– Indian saying

Uncontrolled anger is a sign of ignorance. As potent energy, anger causes much harm to others and creates bad karma for you.

This is what we call psychic attacks. When you have intense anger or hatred directed towards somebody, it pierces the energy of that person like an arrow.

It actually brings lot of imbalance in the chakras making that person very very vulnerable to many forms of problems including emotional crisis, relationship problem. So, that is a reason why you have to be so careful about what kind of emotions are going out of you.

Also, the energy of anger attracts negative events, including accidents and bad luck.

So, it is neither good for you, nor good for the people towards whom you are directing your anger. As a matter of fact, even before it affects people, it affects you in the first place. So, when there is much anger energy in your system, more importantly, in some of your chakras, this actually becomes a reason why we keep attracting many problems including accidents.

Moreover, intense anger and hatred karmically bind you with people and events, forcing you to attract them in your future life.

This is a very important point. Any anger binds you karmically with a situation. Maybe you are fed up or frustrated with the situation or condition of your life. Anger binds you with that situation or condition.

Why? Because in the first place the situations or conditions are set for you to gather experience and learn the lessons that are contained in that particular experience. That is the reason why you need to be so careful about what kind of emotions are radiating from you.

So, this is very very important to understand that a condition or a situation are simply created for us to gather whatever lessons that we are expected to learn. Once we learn the lessons, the karma is finished that is, as per the teachings of the masters.

But the lessons have to be learned internally, that is very very important. Many at times, maybe you are not saying anything, but internally you are sad, you are frustrated, you are angry, and you are not expressing it.

So, this kind of reaction that happens subtly internally also binds you karmically and that is reason why, you need to be so careful. Any reaction will inevitably bind you karmically, either with the condition or with the people.

So, there is a very beautiful story here, that we shall read now:

Once there were two prisoners that underwent extreme torture in the hands of a jailer. The prisoners had enormous anger and hatred towards the jailer.

As per the clairvoyant observation of the Master, the jailer and the prisoners were bonded together in their next lives with the jailer being born physically disabled due to his bad karma of physical violence to the parents who were the prisoners! They were forced to practice forgiveness and unconditional love.

So, this is actually from the experience of Edgar Cayce, who had done several hundred past life readings for maybe thousands of people. As per one record that I remember, he has done over 16,000 such kind of past life studies of varying nature.

So, this is one of his experience which was shared by Grandmaster Choa Kok Sui. So, here you can see that the prisoners who had so much of anger, hatred towards the jailer were karmically bound with the jailer.

Now, for the jailer, because of the physical violence, he had to be physically born disabled, mentally born disabled but for the prisoners, because of that intense anger and hatred, nature wanted them to practice forgiveness, unconditional love and that is the reason why, they happened to become the parents of the jailer.

So, in the Universe there is no place for hatred, there is no place for anger. Sooner or later, you have to learn to master your emotions. There is no other way.

If you are a person who is getting angry and frustrated for everything, be very careful. You are getting intensely bound, over and over again.

Even if you skip this lifetime, in another lifetime, because you did not learn the lesson that was meant to be learned, this karma will follow you.

So, always remember one thing permanently. It is not about the people in your life, it is not about the conditions of your life, it is not about the situation. It is about you!

It is about your lessons that you are expected to learn. So, a condition or people will be automatically attracted to you for you to learn that particular lesson. This is already a part of the Divine Plan. So, even before you come into a lifetime, into an embodiment, already the path is set for you.

Where will you be born, to which parents, what kind of environment you will have, what kind of conditions or challenges, what kind of physical ailments, everything is already set as per certain grand plan. Nothing happens by coincidence.

Because of this, we have to remember moment to moment, there is only perfection. On the strength of this faith, learn to accept things that you cannot change. Of course, acceptance does not mean that everything is being accepted.

No, it is not meant to be in this way. We shall be reading about it very shortly but for now, take proper action but never ever react, even internally. That is very important.

Another important aspect of anger is that intense anger triggers ‘anger energy’

The anger energy is normally dormant in people and it simply waits for a stimulus, external stimulus. So, here there is a very beautiful story that has been narrated from the Mahabharata.

It talks about the duel between Yudhisthira who happens to be the eldest among the Pandava; no need to worry about the stories if you do not know what is Mahabharata and scriptures. The important point is the essence of the teachings.

So, Yudhisthira was actually in a combat, in a fight with another great warrior by name Shalya.

Shalya, the last great warrior of the Kaurava army and Yudhisthira got locked in a fight. No one could defeat Shalya earlier because a demon within Shayla’s body would grow stronger in strength when confronted by an angry opponent.

That means, the anger energy of the opponent was giving power to this demon which was residing inside the body of Shalya.

The demon kept multiplying from strength to strength as the opponent became more and more aggressive.

Hope you got already the message! That means if you are going to face situations of life with lot of anger and frustration, without your knowledge, you are simply giving more and more power to it.

If you are dealing with the situations of life with lot of anger and frustration and disappointment, you have to change your approach. You have to change your attitude, otherwise things will linger for eons of time and even if you find temporary solutions but because you did not learn the lesson, it will come back to you in some other form, at some other time. You have to be very careful about all this intricate aspects of our life.

Yudhisthira changed his strategy and confronted Shalya with gentleness and love, and this made the demon within him progressively weaker and finally got disintegrated. Thus, Yudhisthira, with no anger in his heart, could kill Shalya with ease!

So, the best way to disempower people who are angry is showering them with lots of love internally, remember internally. It is not externally. Externally, when you start showing lot of love and kindness, it will be mistaken that you are a weak person.

There are times when you have to be tough, however while you are taking tough actions, make a note never ever react internally. That means, your mental state is all the time peaceful. You maintain your equilibrium at any given conditions of life while you are taking every action possible.

That is why, the great warriors were great spiritual masters. If necessary, they can take a sword and cut anybody to pieces but when they do that, it is not out of anger. It is out of establishing righteousness or dharma.

So, there are times when we need to take harsh actions but while we do that, importantly, let us learn not to react. The reaction binds us always.

There is more power in gentleness and love. However, there are situations where you should not simply smile, but have to “show” that you are angry and take proper action as well.

The people of a village dreaded a serpent in the forest. When they went to collect firewood he would chase them and some villagers were even killed. Once a saint came to the village and the people requested his help. The saint went to the forest and asked the serpent not to harm anyone. The snake accepted the order and promised that he would not harm anyone anymore. The villagers were at peace

The story will continue tomorrow.
